Christmas No.2 at Old Dairy Barns!

I can't believe this is our second Christmas in our new home! We look back at the pictures of last year and realise how much more homely we've made the space since moving in.

We've hung wall hangings and curtains, and done my usual sourcing by prioritising secondhand, done some up-cycling and making, all to cosy-up our space. And I have to say it's made a huge difference!

The danger of a barn is in it's volume and by wanting to keep lots of stone and timber exposed there's a definite risk of it being echoey and uncomfortable. Being old gits we found we were spending a lot of time saying 'eh, what?' and miss communicating! So, on with the soft furnishings and in with the clutter! All to soften the sounds and hold the warmth (which is now not leaking out the un-pointed walls!).

We've had a lovely run up to Christmas with local carols, lots of mulled wine, choir activities and the highlight: the offspring home last weekend to help decorate and get in the festive vibe by decorating the animals too!

The irony of this Christmas is that it was due to be a wonderful cosy family affair, gathering in the flock and enjoying fun, food and all that is festive. However, sickness has scuppered that. The dreaded Covid has struck again! So we adjust our plans, hunker down, listen to carols on the radio and watch "It's a Wonderful Life", again. Thankfully, it is.

Merry Christmas all ... and may your 2024 be full of everything good, wholesome and true!
