So much done and so little time for blogging!

Loads has happened since my last post - where do I begin?!

There are electricians and plumbers on site now and this week we reached the beginning of the seemingly mythical 'first fix' (which in Grand Designs always seems to be a big deal). This must mean we're getting closer!

Yes, we've seen lots of progress over the past few weeks with the oak in 3 of the 4 roofs finished, insulation going in, stud walls going up and wiring too!

Andrew and I are still plodding on as amateur labourers, both moaning about our sore backs and stiff joints, but secretly loving being part of it. Most chores this month have involved cleaning and sanding the vast pieces of oak for the roof and painting around the eves from up on the scaffolding. I'm definitely getting better with heights...

We've not been unaffected by the global supply chain issues, particularly with a number of weeks delay in a large part of our oak order, but thankfully the last pieces arrived this week so work can at last begin on the final stretch of roof - the 'long barn'. Our windows too are taking longer than they should but should be with us early December (keeping everything crossed for that one!).

It'll be great to get it all water tight, as I think we're on borrowed time with all this good weather we've had. Although we've been so fortunate with the weather for most of the year, when we do get rain it comes down hard and we've had a few issues with some flooding. It drys up quickly though and most of the building is well protected by our invaluable 'scaffold wrap'.

We've had the front 3 sections of the barns covered with the wrap for some time now, but I really hope by next month it will be down and we will see the completed tiled roof at the front. One thing that is guaranteed to change and keep changing, is that big beautiful sky that we gaze at daily in absolute awe.
